Dear Wilmette Parks Supporter:
On behalf of the Ouilmette Foundation for the Parks, we would like to ask for your support of the Foundation’s efforts. If you supported us in the past, thank you! If not, we hope you will consider a donation to support our efforts.
This year, contributions from donors have helped the Foundation raise over $32,000 toward our fundraising goal of $50,000. Proceeds from this year’s efforts have been earmarked for renovation of the Steven R. Keay Nature Learning Center as well as the Wilmette Park District’s Family Scholarship Fund.
Last year, after meeting the challenge of raising funds to match a $60,000 grant from the U.S. Wildlife Service, the Foundation brought together an estimated 346 volunteers from 20 community groups to create a new habitat area in Gillson Park with close to 20,000 plants chosen to attract birds, butterflies and people. This was probably the largest community involvement project in recent Wilmette history, with volunteers of all ages representing multiple community organization involved in digging and planting for the bird habitat.
We exist to help spread more joy in our community by getting people involved in our parks, building community and enhancing our natural resources for today’s and future generations. You have played an important role in making this happen and we hope that you will continue to be a part of that endeavor.
As we approach this holiday season of giving, we hope you will consider making a generous contribution to support our community efforts. To our past supporters, thank you again for your help. If you have not supported the Foundation in the past, we hope you will consider helping our cause.
